Located at the heart of Agrodome Farm is the Organic Orchard. The orchard was originally planted in 1980 with Kiwifruit which grew in abundance and from 1982 the fruit was sold to Zespri and exported mainly to Japan.
Over the years the scenic orchard has grown to incorporate Feijoas and Olives. Natural sprays and fertilizers are utilized in the orchard which is part of our commitment to sustainable business practice and also means that our orchard has certified Bio-grow organic status.
Today the Orchard hosts many visitors from all over the world that are curious about organic methods of farming and the process of growing the world famous kiwifruit. In a busy, modern society, people are becoming more interested in health and well being, and organically produced food is gaining demand worldwide.
Everyday our Organic Farm tour visits the orchard giving people the opportunity to roam under the kiwifruit vines, see how the different fruits are grown and taste kiwifruit juice, honey and fresh fruit (when in season). |
